Your Family Photographer at Marriott Cancún Resort

Real, relaxed photos of the whole trip — kids, grandparents and the entire crew — on the wide Playa Ballenas sand, moments from the hotel.

Marriott Cancún Resort

Everyone in the Frame — Even the Parent Behind the Camera

The Marriott Cancún Resort is built for a family holiday: an all-inclusive right on the beach, a water park the kids never want to leave, and enough room for three generations to spread out. But we notice the same thing in nearly every message parents send us from here — the trip is full of photos of the children, and almost none with mom or dad actually in them. Someone is always the one holding the phone.

That is exactly the gap we fill. We have shot thousands of sessions across Cancún, and a family session at the Marriott is our favorite kind: an easy hour on the wide public beach right in front of the resort, with everyone — grandparents included — finally in the same frame. No stiff poses, no forced "say cheese." Just your family being your family, on the sand at golden hour.

The Holiday You Were Too Busy to Photograph

By day four of an all-inclusive week, the camera roll tells a lopsided story: the kids on the water slides, the kids at the buffet, the kids asleep in the lobby. The adults who planned the whole thing barely appear. A proper family session rebalances the record. We give you one relaxed hour on the beach in front of the Marriott — the same wide Playa Ballenas sand the resort shares with its sister property, the JW Marriott next door — and we make sure every single person who came on this trip ends up in pictures you will actually print.

Our style with families is loose and quick. We do not line everyone up and count to three. We walk, we play, we let the little ones bolt toward the water and shoot the happy chaos as it happens — because the frames that make parents cry ten years later are never the posed ones. If your kids are shy at first, that is completely normal; ten minutes in, they forget we are there.

Kids Who Forget the Camera Is There

Toddlers, tweens and teenagers each need a different approach, and after years on this beach we have learned all of them. We keep sessions short enough to beat a meltdown, bribe-free and full of movement. Our full family photoshoot guide for Cancún walks through what to wear, how to schedule around nap time, and how to coax a genuine laugh out of a two-year-old on a beach.

Three Generations, One Frame

Family holidays at the Marriott are often reunions — grandparents flew in, cousins came from three different cities, everyone is under one roof for the first time in years. Those are the sessions we love most. We are used to organising large, lively groups on the sand: a big combined portrait first, while everyone is fresh, then smaller clusters — the grandkids with grandma, the siblings, each couple. See how we choreograph bigger parties in our group photoshoot guide.

A Week That Deserves More Than a Phone Roll

You spent months planning this trip and no small fortune on it. A handful of professional images is how it survives past the tan lines. Whether it is a milestone birthday, a first family holiday abroad or simply the year you all finally made it to the Caribbean together, our vacation photoshoot guide for Cancún shows how a short session turns a whole week into something worth hanging on a wall.

Wide white-sand Playa Ballenas beach and calm turquoise water in front of Marriott Cancún Resort, where family photo sessions take place
Why Families Choose It

A Beach Wide Enough for the Whole Crew

The stretch of sand in front of the Marriott is one of the broadest and calmest in the hotel zone — room for kids to roam and for a big family to spread out without a single stranger in the background.

  1. Space for a crowd

The wide Playa Ballenas beachfront gives large, multi-generation groups plenty of room to move — no cramped setups and no strangers wandering into the shot.

  2. Shallow, gentle water

The turquoise water here stays shallow and calm a long way out, so little ones can splash safely while we photograph the fun.

  3. A couple of minutes from the lobby

We meet you at the public beach access right by the resort — no taxis, no long trek with a stroller and a diaper bag in tow.

  4. A short, kid-proof hour

Sessions run about an hour and we keep them moving, so we are done before anyone melts down or misses the water park for too long.

Where We Meet You: Km 14.5 and the Ballenas Sand

The Marriott Cancún Resort sits at Blvd. Kukulcán km 14.5, Retorno Chac L-41, in the middle of Cancún’s Zona Hotelera — about 20 to 25 minutes by car from Cancún International Airport (CUN). It shares the long Retorno del Rey and Playa Ballenas stretch with the JW Marriott next door, and the public beach access at Playa Ballenas (km 14) is right nearby. That is where we meet you: an easy public spot a couple of minutes from the hotel, so nobody has to herd the kids far.

Want a change of backdrop mid-session? Playa Delfines (km 18), home to the famous Cancún lookout and its giant letters, is about 7 to 10 minutes south by car — a fun second stop for older kids. Playa Fórum (km 9), in the livelier heart of the zone, is roughly 10 to 12 minutes the other way. For most families, though, the beach right in front of the Marriott is all we need.

The Best Hour With Kids in Tow

With children, timing beats everything. Early morning is our top pick on this beach: the sand is freshly groomed, the light is soft and golden, the crowds have not arrived and — crucially — the little ones are fresh and fed. The hour before sunset works too, giving that warm, glowing light, but it can collide with dinner and bedtime. Tell us your kids’ ages and their rhythm, and we will pick the exact window that gives us happy faces.

Pricing is refreshingly simple, with no session fee at all: you pay $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or choose a group package from $200 USD — the easy call when there are a lot of you and everyone wants their own favorites. You only pay for the images you love, and you can see how we work with hundreds of recent families on our Cancún photographer page.

Is one of you dreaming of a dramatic solo portrait of her own — all movement and flowing fabric in the sea breeze? Ask about our signature beach-gown editorial sessions at the Marriott: a completely different kind of picture on the same beautiful stretch of sand.

Good to Know

Family Sessions at Marriott Cancún — FAQ

Do you shoot sessions with young kids and toddlers?

Absolutely — they are our specialty on this beach. We keep the session short and playful, follow the kids rather than forcing poses, and photograph the running, splashing and giggles as they happen. Early morning, when little ones are fresh and fed, tends to give the happiest faces.

How much does a family or group photo session near Marriott Cancún cost?

There is no session fee. You pay $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or pick a group package from $200 USD — usually the better value for larger families where everyone wants their own favorite shots.

Can you photograph a big multi-generation group?

Yes, large groups are one of our favorite jobs here. The wide Playa Ballenas beach has room for everyone. We start with the full-group portrait while energy is high, then break into smaller combinations — grandparents with grandkids, each couple, the siblings — so nobody is missing from the album.

Do we have to be staying at the Marriott to book?

Not at all. We photograph on the public beach in front of the resort at Playa Ballenas, so you can be a guest of the Marriott, the JW Marriott next door, or anywhere else in the hotel zone. We simply meet you at the nearby public beach access.

Where exactly do we meet, and how long is the session?

We meet at the public beach access by Playa Ballenas (km 14), a couple of minutes from the hotel at Blvd. Kukulcán km 14.5. Sessions run about an hour — long enough for plenty of variety, short enough to finish before anyone needs a nap or the water park.
