Nobody Gets Left Out of the Frame at Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres — the Date Is Free to Hold
The booking that turns up most here has three surnames on it: two or three households who lined up the same week and want one frame with everybody inside it before people start flying home. Then the families with very young children, taken first, while the smallest still thinks it is a game. A quinceañera who wants her hour before the party, not after. Birthdays that end in a zero. Anniversaries — the tenth, the twenty-fifth, the one nobody photographed the first time round. A morning aboard a yacht. Proposals arranged behind the backs of eleven relatives. A honeymoon nobody wants rushed; maternity frames at the slow end of the morning. Friends travelling with nobody to look after. And a solo portrait for whoever spent the week holding everyone else's children.
One reservation here can end up spread across several buildings, and the children are usually somewhere else entirely — the kids' club, the pool, the teen room — so the session is often the only hour of the day when the whole party is in one place. That is the real work of a Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres photographer: getting twenty-odd people on holiday to stand in the same spot at the same time and look like they meant to. Thousands of sessions across Cancún have taught us to do that arithmetic over WhatsApp weeks ahead — who is coming, who lands late, which pairings you want — and holding the date costs nothing. When there are this many of you the money question comes up first, so both answers, per photo and per package, are already waiting on our Cancun photographer page. Tell us who is on the reservation and we will send back a running order for the hour.
Why the Newest Coast Is the Emptiest One
Costa Mujeres was built out last, and the beach still shows it.
-
Genuinely empty sand
Even in high season this stretch stays quiet compared with the hotel zone, so backgrounds stay clean without waiting for gaps in foot traffic.
-
Room for a big group
Wide and deep, which is what a twenty-person frame needs — we can step back rather than squeeze people together.
-
Soft sunrise, open horizon
Facing east with nothing built up behind, first light lands directly on the beach.
-
Easy meeting point
We meet at a public access close to the resort, so nobody has to organise transport before breakfast.
The Sessions Guests Here Book Most
This is a big resort, and the sessions tend to involve a lot of people.
Large families
Several households travelling together, often with grandparents. We start with the full group while the children are still fresh, then work through the smaller combinations. Our family photoshoot guide for Cancún covers coordinating what everyone wears.
Friend groups and celebrations
Milestone birthdays, reunions, trips that took two years to organise. We choreograph large group photoshoots so they stay loose instead of turning into a lineup.
Couples staying with the group
Almost every large booking ends with fifteen minutes for each couple on their own — usually the frames people are most pleased with afterwards.
Where the Resort Sits — and How Far That Is From Everything
Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres is on the Costa Mujeres coast north of Playa Mujeres and well north of the Cancún hotel zone — around forty-five minutes from the airport, depending on traffic. It is the newest resort corridor on this coast, which is why the beach is both wide and quiet.
The distance is worth naming honestly: you are further from downtown Cancún than most resorts, so a session at Playa Delfines and the CANCUN sign means a real drive. Most groups shoot on the beach right there instead, and given how empty it is, that is usually the better photograph anyway.
How a Session Works With a Group This Size
We come to you, and there is no travel fee to Costa Mujeres. We meet at a public beach access near the resort — Mexican beaches are federal public property with open access, so a resort's vendor policy does not affect whether we can photograph the shoreline. For large groups we suggest allowing a little more than the standard hour.
Sunrise is the recommendation. On a beach this open the early light is the difference between flat midday snapshots and photographs with depth — and with a big group, the cooler temperature is not a small thing either.
What a Session Here Costs
There is no session fee anywhere on this coast. Photos are $15 USD each with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or a package from $200 USD — the practical option once you are past one family, since everyone wants their own images. Compare them on our Cancún photographer page.
Want one image that belongs on a wall rather than in an album? Ask about our signature beach-gown editorial sessions — meters of fabric lifted into the wind on this same wide stretch of sand.
Is a ceremony part of the trip? Our Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres wedding photographer guide covers ceremony coverage on this coast.

Photo Sessions at Grand Palladium Costa Mujeres — FAQ
How far is Costa Mujeres from Cancún airport?
Roughly forty-five minutes by car, depending on traffic. It is the northernmost resort stretch on this coast.
Is there a travel fee to come out this far?
No. We photograph on the Costa Mujeres coast regularly and there is no travel fee.
Can you photograph a group of twenty?
Yes. This is one of the better beaches on the coast for it — wide and deep enough that everyone fits in one frame with open sand behind them.
Can we still shoot at the CANCUN sign?
We can, but it is a real drive from here. Most groups prefer to use the beach at the resort, which is far emptier than anything in the hotel zone.
How much does a session cost?
There is no session fee: $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or a package from $200 USD, which is usually better value for a large group.
