An Hour of Quiet Before the Day Starts
Secrets Playa Mujeres is adults-only, set inside the gated Playa Mujeres community about thirty minutes north of downtown Cancún. Most people who write to us from here are on a honeymoon or marking an anniversary, and what they want is not a production — it is an hour on a quiet beach with someone who knows where to stand.
This coast suits that. Because the resort is adults-only and the community is set apart from the hotel zone, the shoreline stays calm; we are not working around beach games or crowds. We shoot slowly, mostly walking and talking, and the photographs end up looking like the trip actually felt rather than like a catalogue.
Why Quiet Matters More Than Scenery
Every resort on this coast has turquoise water. What varies is how many people are standing in it.
-
Adults-only calm
No kids' club on the sand means the beach stays quiet, and quiet is what lets a couple relax enough to stop performing for the camera.
-
Unbroken eastern horizon
The coast faces east with nothing built up behind it, so sunrise arrives clean — soft light on faces, no tower shadows across the sand.
-
Space to move slowly
We shoot couples walking, which needs an uninterrupted stretch of sand. There is plenty of it here.
-
Discreet by default
On an empty beach we can work at a distance, which is what makes the unposed frames possible.
The Sessions Couples Here Book Most
Almost every booking from this resort is two people marking something.
Honeymoons
Usually early in the trip, so you have real photographs of the two of you before the week disappears. An hour at sunrise, mostly walking, and you go back to breakfast.
Anniversaries
Ten years, twenty-five, or the first one. These sessions tend to be the most relaxed we shoot — nobody is nervous, and it shows in the frames.
Vow renewals and symbolic ceremonies
A small, private ceremony on the sand with just the two of you, or with a handful of people. We photograph it as it happens and then do a proper couple's session afterwards while you are both still dressed for it.
Where the Resort Sits — and What the Light Does Here
Secrets Playa Mujeres is inside the gated Playa Mujeres community on the coast north of Cancún, facing the channel toward Isla Mujeres, about thirty minutes from downtown Cancún and roughly forty from the airport. It is a late-developed, low-rise stretch of coast — marina, golf course, and a long run of white sand rather than a wall of hotels.
For photographs the practical consequence is the eastern horizon. Nothing blocks it, so the first light of the day lands directly on the beach and on your faces. On the hotel zone strip that same hour is half in shadow.
How a Session Works Here
We come to you — no travel fee to Playa Mujeres — and meet at a public beach access a short walk from the resort. Mexican beaches are federal public property with open access, so we can photograph the shoreline regardless of a resort's policy on outside vendors. Sessions run about an hour and are fully guided; you will not need to know what to do with your hands.
Sunrise is the recommendation, and on an adults-only beach it is an easy one: the light is soft and the sand is empty. If mornings are genuinely impossible, late afternoon still gives a warm sky, though the sun drops behind the property rather than over the water.
What a Session Here Costs
There is no session fee to worry about: $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or a package from $200 USD. Most couples here land somewhere around fifteen images. You only pay for what you actually want to keep — see our Cancún photographer page.

Photo Sessions at Secrets Playa Mujeres — FAQ
Do you come out to Playa Mujeres? Is there a travel fee?
Yes, and there is no travel fee. We photograph on this coast regularly and meet you at a public beach access a short walk from the resort.
Can you photograph a vow renewal or a symbolic ceremony?
Yes. We photograph small ceremonies on the sand regularly — just the two of you or a small group — and then continue with a couple's session afterwards while you are still dressed for it.
We are not comfortable in front of a camera. Is that a problem?
It is the most common thing people tell us, and it changes nothing. We direct throughout — where to walk, where to look, what to do with your hands — and most of the session is movement rather than posing.
How much does a couple's session cost?
There is no session fee. It is $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or a package from $200 USD. You only pay for the images you want.
Sunrise or sunset?
Sunrise on this coast. It faces east, so the light comes in low over the water and the beach is at its emptiest.
