The Kempinski sits at Retorno del Rey 36, a quiet loop off Boulevard Kukulcán at km 14.5 — right at the midpoint of Cancún’s hotel zone. From Cancún International Airport (CUN) it is about a 20–25 minute drive, so guests who land in the morning can easily fit a session in before the day turns hot. We meet you at the public beach access for Playa Ballenas (km 14), an easy, well-marked spot a couple of minutes from the hotel — no taxis, no logistics. The session itself takes place on the public sand in front of the Ballenas stretch, one of the widest and calmest in Cancún.

If you would like to build in a change of scenery, two of the zone’s most photogenic beaches are close by. Playa Delfines (km 18), with its famous hilltop lookout and the giant CANCÚN letters, is about a 7–10 minute drive south. Playa Fórum (km 9), in the livelier heart of the zone, sits about 10–12 minutes north. Most of our Kempinski families and couples stay right at Ballenas, though — the calm and the short walk are exactly what drew them to this end of the boulevard in the first place.

Golden Hour on a Quiet Stretch

For timeless portraits, light is everything. Sunrise on this east-facing beach is soft, warm and almost private — the Ballenas sand is nearly empty at that hour, and the first light falls straight across the water. The window before sunset is the other favorite: golden, flattering, and the most natural excuse in the world for a family stroll along the shore.
