The Calmest Swimming Water in Cancún — Built for Little Feet and Slow Mornings
There is one question every parent asks before a beach session with small children: will the water be calm? At the Presidente InterContinental Cancún, on the sheltered corner of Punta Cancún at Boulevard Kukulcán km 7.5, the honest answer is yes — this is one of the very few genuinely wave-free beaches in the whole city. The sea here laps instead of crashes, the shallows run out flat and glassy for meters, and a toddler can stand ankle-deep while grandparents watch from the dry sand. After thousands of sessions up and down this coast, we can tell you plainly: not every Cancún beach is built for a two-year-old. This one is.
That same protected water is a quiet gift for couples. When the sea sits still it behaves like a mirror — soft light, clean reflections, no whitecaps fighting the frame. The Presidente is one of Cancún's oldest and most iconic resorts, and it sits on the calm Bahía de Mujeres side of the point rather than the open-Caribbean stretch to the south. That geography is the whole reason its beach photographs so serenely. We meet you on the public sand right in front of the hotel and work the morning from there — no resort access needed, just an easy walk down to the water.
Where the Caribbean Forgets to Make Waves
The Presidente sits on the sheltered inside of Punta Cancún, where the Bahía de Mujeres takes the punch out of the surf. That single fact shapes everything about a session here.
-
Water calm enough for a toddler
The shallows here stay flat and shin-deep for meters, so little kids can splash safely while we shoot — no dragging undertow, no sudden shore break to keep one eye on.
-
A short hop from the action
Playa Fórum and the livelier heart of the zone are only about three to five minutes north at km 9 — a serene beach without being stranded from restaurants and nightlife.
-
Glassy sea, mirror-clean frames
When the water barely moves it reads as a sheet of turquoise glass behind you — the reason couples get those calm, reflective backdrops you simply cannot fake on a choppy beach.
-
A meeting point anyone can find
We gather at the public beach access beside the hotel — an obvious, easy landmark whether you are a guest here or driving in just for the session.
A Beach That Behaves — and the Families Who Love It for That
Most of the postcard beaches in Cancún face the open Caribbean, which means real waves — beautiful for a solo portrait, and stressful the moment you add a three-year-old. The Presidente’s stretch is the opposite. Because it curves into the protected pocket of the Bahía de Mujeres, the water arrives gently and the sand shelves slowly, so the whole family can actually be in the sea instead of bracing against it. We plan these mornings around the light and the tide, and the calm does half our work for us.
Toddlers, Grandparents and a Sea That Stays Still
This is our most-requested beach for multi-generational trips, and the reason is comfort. Small children can wade without a parent hovering over a shore break; grandparents can sit on dry, firm sand a few steps away and still land in every frame. We move at a kid’s pace — snacks, breaks, a little chasing along the shoreline — and we know the exact windows when the sand is emptiest. If you are traveling with the whole crew, our family photoshoot guide for Cancún covers outfits, timing and how to keep toddlers happy on camera.
Glassy Water, Golden Light — Just the Two of You
When the sea lies flat, couples get something the party beaches to the south rarely offer: a clean, mirror-still horizon and soft directional light without a wall of swimmers behind you. We keep direction gentle — most of our clients have never modeled a day in their lives — and let the calm set the mood. Our couples photoshoot guide in Cancún walks through how we plan wardrobe, poses and the best hour to be on the sand.
The Trip You’ll Actually Want on the Wall
Not every session marks a milestone — sometimes it is simply the best week of the year, and phone selfies will not do it justice. A relaxed hour on the Presidente’s calm beach turns an ordinary vacation morning into images worth printing and framing. If that is you, our vacation photoshoot guide for Cancún is a good place to begin.
Finding Us at Km 7.5: Punta Cancún, Corner to Corner
The Presidente InterContinental stands at Boulevard Kukulcán km 7.5, right on the elbow of Punta Cancún where the hotel zone bends from the bay toward the open sea. From Cancún International Airport (CUN) it is about a 25–30 minute drive, so guests often land, settle in and shoot the very next morning. We meet you at the public beach access next to the hotel — no lobby, no logistics, just a spot on the sand we agree on over WhatsApp.
Want to roam? Playa Fórum (km 9), in the buzzy center of the zone, is only about three to five minutes north — handy if you want a livelier backdrop after the calm one. And the famous lookout at Playa Delfines (km 18), with its giant CANCÚN letters and open-sea panorama, is roughly 15–20 minutes south by car. Most families happily stay put on the Presidente’s gentle beach, but we are glad to build a two-stop morning if you want variety.
Pricing is refreshingly simple: there is no session fee. You pay $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or choose a group package from $200 USD — the popular route when the whole family is in the frame. You only pay for the images you love, and you can see how we work with hundreds of recent clients on our Cancún photographer page.
Marking something special? Ask about our signature beach-gown editorial sessions at the Presidente InterContinental — meters of flowing fabric caught in the sea breeze, made for a milestone morning on this calm, bay-side sand.

Family & Couples Sessions at the Presidente — FAQ
Is the water at the Presidente InterContinental really calm enough for young kids?
Yes — it is one of the main reasons families choose it. The beach sits on the protected Bahía de Mujeres side of Punta Cancún at km 7.5, so the shallows stay flat and shin-deep for meters with no crashing shore break. Toddlers can wade safely while we shoot and grandparents relax a few steps away on dry sand.
How much does a family or couples session near the Presidente cost?
There is no session fee. You pay $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or choose a group package from $200 USD when the whole family is involved. You only pay for the photos you love.
Do we have to be staying at the Presidente InterContinental?
Not at all. We shoot on the public beach right in front of the hotel at km 7.5 and meet you at the public beach access beside it. Guests and non-guests get exactly the same calm-water setting.
What time of day is best for a family session here?
Early morning. The light is soft and warm, the sand is at its emptiest, and small children are usually at their happiest before the midday heat. Golden hour just before sunset is a lovely second option.
Can we combine the calm beach with another Cancún spot?
Yes. Playa Fórum (km 9) is about three to five minutes north for a livelier look, and Playa Delfines (km 18) with its famous lookout is roughly 15–20 minutes south. We are happy to plan a two-stop morning if you want variety.
