Your Group's Stylish Home Base at Km 12
Some Cancún beaches are made for a single portrait. This one is made for a crew. ME Cancún sits right at km 12 on Boulevard Kukulcán — the exact middle of the hotel zone, where the strip is at its liveliest and the Caribbean is at its widest. It is the address people book when they want the trip to look as good as it felt: the design-forward, center-of-everything base for a group that photographs well together.
We have shot thousands of sessions up and down this coastline, and the central strip around ME Cancún is one of our favorite places to bring a group. You are steps from the public sand, minutes from the best-known beaches in either direction, and close enough to the action that nobody has to trek across the peninsula for a good photo. You bring the people; we bring an hour of easy, magazine-style direction that makes the whole group look like they do this all the time.
Central, Photogenic, and Made for a Crowd That Travels Together
Km 12 has the one quality every group photo needs: room. The central hotel zone is where Cancún’s barrier island bows out toward Punta Cancún, so the public beach beside ME Cancún is broad and open — enough width for eight friends in a line, a slow walk along the waterline, and a background that is nothing but turquoise sea and sky. Because you are in the middle of the strip rather than at a far, quiet end, the light is bright, the sand is generous, and you are never more than a few minutes from a change of scene. It is the rare spot where a big group can spread out without anyone getting cropped or crowded.
Most of the people we photograph here are not models, and it does not matter in the slightest. We direct every frame — who stands where, when to walk, when to laugh at the person next to you — so the group looks natural instead of stiffly posed. Whatever the occasion that brought you all to Cancún, the session bends around it rather than the other way around.
Friends Who Traveled a Long Way to Be Together
Reunions, milestone birthdays, a group of friends who finally synced their calendars — these are the sessions we love most on the km 12 sand. We keep the pace relaxed and the group moving so the photos feel the way the trip actually felt, not like a stiff line-up in front of a hotel. If you are organizing the whole crew’s shoot, our guide to group photoshoots in Cancún covers outfits, timing and how to keep a large group looking effortless.
Girls’ Trips and Weekend Escapes
ME Cancún’s stylish, grown-up energy makes it a natural for a girls’ trip. We time the session around the day’s plans — before the beach club, after a long brunch, whenever the group is glowing — and shoot the kind of images that end up printed and framed, not just posted and forgotten. Our girls’ trip and bachelorette photoshoot guide for Cancún has ideas for coordinating looks and small props that photograph beautifully against the open water.
Couples Who Want More Than a Phone Selfie
Traveling as two? The same beach that flatters a group of ten is just as kind to a couple. We slow everything right down for a gentle half-hour on the waterline — real direction, real light, none of the awkward standing-still poses. Our couples photoshoot guide for Cancún shows how we plan outfits and timing so the two of you end up looking like yourselves on your best day.

Finding Us: Km 12 and the Beaches on Either Side
ME Cancún stands at Blvd. Kukulcán km 12, dead center in the hotel zone on the narrow barrier island between the open Caribbean and the Nichupté lagoon. From Cancún International Airport (CUN) it is about a 25-minute drive, which makes it one of the easier hotel-zone addresses to reach on arrival day. We meet your group at the public Playa Marlín beach access, a short walk from the hotel — an obvious, easy spot with no taxis or logistics to coordinate on the morning of the shoot.
The real advantage of km 12 is what sits on either side of it. Head south and Playa Delfines — the famous lookout at km 18 with the giant CANCUN letters and the widest view on the strip — is about 10 to 12 minutes away by car. Head north and Playa Fórum at km 9, in the buzzing heart of the zone, is about 6 to 8 minutes. Most groups stay right on the central sand beside the hotel, but if you want a second backdrop, both are close enough to fold into a single morning.
The Best Light for a Group Shot
Early morning is our first choice for a group. Just after sunrise the central beach is quiet, the Caribbean is calm and glassy, and the light is soft enough to flatter everyone at once — no squinting, no harsh midday shadows falling across half the group. Golden hour before sunset is the other sweet spot, warmer and moodier, and ideal if your crew is more of a late-starting bunch. Tell us your dates and how many of you there are, and we will recommend the exact window down to the half-hour.
Pricing is refreshingly simple: there is no session fee. You pay $15 USD per photo with a 10-photo minimum ($150 USD), or choose a group package from $200 USD when there are several of you and everyone wants the full gallery. You only ever pay for the images you love.
