The Bay That Keeps Its Colour Through a Whole Wedding Day

Almost every photograph taken at a Cancún wedding has the sea in it somewhere, which makes the sea the largest single block of colour in your album — and the one thing no photographer can adjust on the day. Fixing the Ceremony Hour to the Real Sunset of Your Date

Golden hour, the soft stretch of light bracketing sundown, is where wedding photographs want to live. As a working rule we build a late-day ceremony to begin about two hours before the sun goes down, which leaves room for vows, family groupings and an unhurried portrait set while the colour is still up. On a clear bay that hour is generous, because the water throws light back rather than swallowing it.

The complication is the calendar: sundown moves by close to ninety minutes between December and June, so an hour that finishes in gold in one month finishes in the dark in another. Putting the Outside Wedding Photographer Terms in Writing

One question is worth sending to the coordinator early, in an email you keep: how does the resort handle a photographer you bring in yourself?
