The hotel sits inside the gated Playa Mujeres development north of Cancún, roughly half an hour from the city centre and a little more from the airport — far enough out that the day feels private, close enough that guests arriving from abroad are not making an expedition of it.

The Ceremony Hour Is a Date Problem, Not a Taste Problem

Golden hour — the soft, low light in the hour bracketing sunset — is where wedding photographs live, and the way to reach it is to count backwards. We normally set the ceremony to begin about two hours before the sun goes down, which leaves room for vows, group portraits and an unhurried set with the two of you while the colour is still holding.

What trips couples up is that sunset here is not a fixed time. It slides by close to an hour and a half between December and June, so a start time that finishes in warm light in one month finishes in the dark in another. Ask Beloved About Outside Wedding Vendors Before You Sign

Put one question to the coordinator in writing early: what the resort asks of an outside wedding photographer. Properties in this bracket commonly charge a vendor fee, or admit your photographer on a paid day pass. It is a normal line item, worth knowing before the contract is signed rather than the week of the wedding, and it is easy to build into the budget once it is on paper. The Paperwork Decision That Sets the Ceremony Clock

One early choice governs everything after it. A legal civil marriage in Mexico brings documents, witnesses and a tighter schedule; a great many couples handle the legal side at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here instead, which is identical through the lens and gives the afternoon back to you. Decide it before we draft the timeline, because it dictates the earliest the ceremony can start.
