Worth settling before anything else is signed: Secrets runs two adults-only resorts on this same stretch of Costa Mujeres, and the names sit close enough to swap by accident. Golden hour — the soft, generous light in the hour or so bracketing sunset — is where wedding photographs live. Down at sand level the resort itself blocks part of it late in the day; up on the roof nothing does, which stretches the usable light and hands you the full colour of the sky as it turns. That single fact often decides the running order: ceremony at the gazebo while the sun is still high enough to fill it, portraits upstairs as it goes.

What Secrets Asks of a Wedding Photographer You Bring Yourself

Ask the resort in writing, early, how it handles an outside wedding photographer. Properties in this bracket normally do one of two things: charge a photographer fee, or admit your team on a paid day pass. Both are ordinary, both are budget lines rather than obstacles, and you simply want the terms agreed long before the morning of the wedding. One more early decision shapes the clock. A legal civil marriage in Mexico brings witnesses, documents and a stricter schedule; plenty of couples handle the legal part at home instead and hold the ceremony here purely for the people in the chairs.
