The pier is assigned by your cruise line — not chosen by you
This is the single most useful thing to understand before your cruise day. Cozumel has three cruise piers, and the cruise line — not the passenger — decides which one a ship uses. Assignments are arranged between the lines and the port well in advance, and they can shift from one sailing to the next depending on how many ships are scheduled that day. On a quiet Sunday your line might berth at its usual home pier; on a packed Saturday with a dozen ships in port, the same line could be moved to a different terminal entirely.
So if you have read that "Carnival docks at Puerta Maya" or "Royal Caribbean uses the International Pier," treat those as strong tendencies rather than guarantees. The practical takeaway is simple: you do not need to predict your pier to book a Flying Dress session. You share your ship name and arrival, we confirm the pier from your itinerary, and we set the meeting point accordingly.
Cozumel's three cruise piers at a glance
All three piers sit along the western, leeward side of the island, close to San Miguel and to the calm beaches we use for Flying Dress photography. Two of them are clustered together on the southern stretch, and the third is right in the heart of town.
Punta Langosta
The most central pier, built right into downtown San Miguel and just a few minutes' walk from the shops, restaurants and the main waterfront promenade. If you dock here you are walking distance from town, and the beaches we shoot are a short, easy taxi ride away.
Puerta Maya
The resort-style terminal a little south of downtown, with pools, bars and a relaxed beach-club atmosphere. It is one of the closest piers to the beaches we use for Flying Dress sessions, which makes the logistics especially smooth.
SSA International Pier
The largest of the three and the one most mega-ships use, sitting right next to Puerta Maya on the southern stretch. Because the two southern piers are neighbors, the drive to our photoshoot beaches is only a few minutes either way.
Which cruise lines use Punta Langosta
Punta Langosta is the in-town pier, and a wide range of lines call there — especially when they want guests to step straight into the shops and restaurants of San Miguel. On any given day you may see Carnival, Royal Caribbean, MSC, Norwegian (NCL), Celebrity, Disney, Holland America and Costa berthed here, along with premium and luxury lines such as Oceania, P&O, Regent, Silversea and Viking. Because it is so central, Langosta is a comfortable pier for a cruise-day shoot: you are minutes from downtown, and a quick taxi takes you to the beach we have chosen for your session.
Which cruise lines use the SSA International Pier
The SSA International Pier is the deep-water terminal built for the biggest ships, so the lines that operate the largest vessels tend to favor it. Royal Caribbean and Celebrity often have priority here, and you will also see MSC and Disney using it, particularly on busy days when their mega-ships need the extra berth length. If your ship is one of the larger ones in the fleet, there is a good chance you will step off here — and since it sits beside Puerta Maya on the southern shore, our photoshoot beaches are just minutes away.
Which cruise lines use Puerta Maya
Puerta Maya is most strongly associated with Carnival, which uses it as a primary terminal, and you will frequently find Princess, Holland America, Costa and AIDA here as well, along with lines such as P&O, Seabourn and Cunard. With its pools, bars and beach-club feel, it is a pleasant pier to return to after your session — and like the International Pier next door, it is one of the closest terminals to our Flying Dress beaches.
A reminder: lines move, and many use more than one pier
It is worth repeating because it saves confusion on the day. Several cruise lines appear at more than one pier depending on the schedule, and the port may reassign berths when many ships arrive together. Always check your own cruise itinerary for the most reliable indication of where you will dock — and when in doubt, simply send us your ship name. We will confirm the pier and the meeting point so you are never guessing on the morning of your stop.
How we plan your meeting point from your pier
Once we know your ship and pier, the rest is straightforward. We send you clear directions to a calm, photogenic beach away from the busiest tourist spots — an easy walk or short taxi ride from where you dock — and we agree on a meeting time that fits your port window. Please note we do not pick you up or drive you anywhere; you make your own way to the meeting point and back, and we coordinate the timing precisely around your ship. Your photographer guides you through every pose while the clothing assistant manages the dress so it catches the wind beautifully. When we wrap, you head straight back toward your terminal with time to spare.
We schedule cruise-day shoots early in the port window — around 8:00 a.m. is ideal, when the light is soft and the public beach is still quiet — and we track your all-aboard time throughout. The session runs about 60 to 90 minutes, which slots comfortably into a typical six-to-eight-hour stop, so most guests are back on board with hours to spare.
A rare, exclusive way to remember your day in port
A Flying Dress session is something genuinely different to do in the Mexican Caribbean. Very few travelers do one each year, which is part of what makes it so memorable — it is not the usual snorkel tour or beach excursion, but a one-of-a-kind set of images that are entirely yours. As the original creators of the Flying Dress experience in the Riviera Maya, including Cozumel, we handle every detail so your cruise day stays relaxed from the moment you step ashore.
Ready when your ship arrives
Whichever pier your line uses, we have you covered. Tell us your sailing date and ship name, and we will confirm the pier, set the meeting point, and have everything ready the moment you arrive in Cozumel.
