Why we split groups into staggered subgroups

The beaches we shoot on in Cozumel are public — beautiful, but with no restrooms, no chairs and nowhere to sit and wait. Having a dozen women standing around together on the sand at once simply does not work, and it would take away from the calm, unhurried feel that makes these photos so good. So instead of one big crowd, we break your group into smaller subgroups and give each one its own start time.

Here is a real example. A group of twelve becomes three subgroups of four, scheduled at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Each subgroup gets roughly a 60-minute window on the beach. When the first four wrap up and head off to enjoy the island, the next four arrive — and so on until the whole group is done. There is never a big pile-up on the sand, everyone gets real attention, and the energy stays high from the first wave to the last.

One photographer per girl — a fast, dynamic shoot

For groups we bring several photographers — for a subgroup of four, that can mean four photographers, essentially one per girl. The session moves quickly and feels alive: instead of waiting your turn while everyone watches, each of you is being photographed at the same time, guided pose by pose. You do not need any experience; your photographer directs every frame while a clothing assistant manages each dress so it catches the wind perfectly. By the time the hour is up, every woman in the subgroup has her own set of images — and the next wave is already arriving to do the same.

Playa Caletita — our recommended beach

Our main beach for Flying Dress sessions in Cozumel is Playa Caletita. It is the best spot for the shoot because, alongside soft sand and clear water, it has a rocky stretch that creates real composition in the photos — texture, depth and a natural frame that flat beaches just do not give you. There are other beaches we can use, but Caletita is the one we recommend, and it is the backdrop most of our group galleries are built around.

Best time of day: 8:00 a.m.

For groups especially, an early start matters. We aim for around 8:00 a.m. because the light is soft and golden and the public beach is still nearly empty — which is exactly when the staggered subgroups flow best. Starting early also leaves your whole group the rest of the day to explore Cozumel, shop near the piers, or head back to the ship with time to spare.

How we plan it around your cruise

Almost every group we photograph in Cozumel arrives by cruise ship, so the schedule is built around your sailing. To be clear about logistics: we do not transport anyone. We give you clear directions to the meeting point, and each subgroup makes its own way there — on foot or by a short taxi ride from the pier — and back afterwards. What we do is coordinate the timing around your ship\'s arrival and all-aboard time, so the staggered waves fit neatly inside your port window. Cozumel has three cruise piers — Punta Langosta downtown, plus Puerta Maya and the SSA International Pier to the south — and the cruise line assigns yours; you do not need to know it in advance.
