Why these stories matter
A Flying Dress photoshoot is not the typical snorkel tour or beach-club afternoon — it is something only a handful of cruise guests do all year, which is exactly what makes it feel so special. As the original creators of the Flying Dress experience in the Riviera Maya, including Cozumel, we have guided hundreds of women through it on their port day. The reviews below come from solo travelers, couples celebrating anniversaries, and bachelorette groups. Different sailings, different cruise lines, one thing in common: they were nervous about the clock, and every one of them made it back to the ship with time to spare.
Solo travelers who made it their morning
For many women, the cruise-day session is a gift to themselves — an hour of feeling beautiful before heading back to explore the island or relax on board.
I almost didn\'t book because I was terrified of missing the all-aboard. I shouldn\'t have worried for a second. We met at 8 a.m., the beach was empty, and I was back at Puerta Maya before lunch. The rocks at Caletita made every photo look like a magazine. Best thing I did on the whole cruise.
Jessica from Houston here! I had maybe six hours in port and was sure this would eat my whole day. Nope — 75 minutes, done, and I still had time to shop downtown. The team was so professional and made me feel like a total natural even though I have zero modeling experience.
As a solo traveler I was a little anxious about the logistics, but they walked me through exactly where to meet and how long it would take. Easy taxi from the International pier, gorgeous photos, back on the ship with hours to spare. My photographer was patient and kind the entire time.
I booked the morning slot and it was the right call — soft light, hardly anyone on the beach, and the water was so calm. Got my edited gallery two days later and cried a little. Worth every penny and it barely touched my time in port.
Emily from Calgary. I\'m a nervous flyer and an even more nervous \"will I miss the boat\" person, ha. They scheduled me early and tracked my all-aboard time the whole way. I was back at the pier two and a half hours before we sailed. The dress in the wind on those rocks — unreal.
Quick, fun, and so much easier than I expected. No dress to pack, no stress — they had everything, including a sizing that fit me perfectly. The whole thing fit neatly into the front half of my port day and I still made it to the beach club after.
I treated myself for my 40th and I have never felt more beautiful. The assistant kept tossing the dress so it caught the breeze perfectly and the photographer just kept saying \"yes, that\'s it!\" Back on board way ahead of schedule. Do it.
Hailey from Vancouver! Honestly the fastest, smoothest excursion of my entire trip. Met them at 8, the sun was perfect, and Caletita was practically ours. I was genuinely shocked at how little time it took. Photos arrived in 72 hours exactly like they promised.
I read reviews like this one before I booked and was still half-sure I\'d be sprinting back to the ship. I wasn\'t. Calm, professional, and they clearly do this every single day. The rock formations at the beach gave my pictures so much depth.
Chloe here, from Vancouver. This was on my bucket list and Cozumel was the perfect place to finally do it. Everything was organized around my ship\'s schedule down to the minute. I felt safe, I felt gorgeous, and I was back aboard with plenty of margin.
I\'m not someone who loves being in front of a camera, but they made it so fun and low-pressure I forgot to be self-conscious. Sixty minutes and I had hundreds of shots. The most unique thing I\'ve ever done on a cruise stop — nobody back home has photos like these.
Couples celebrating something special
Anniversaries and milestone trips are some of our favorite sessions — two people, one wind-swept dress, and a beach that does half the work.
We booked this for our 10th anniversary and it was the highlight of the whole sailing. My husband isn\'t a photo person but even he was grinning by the end. We met early, had the beach almost to ourselves, and were back at Punta Langosta before our excursion buddies had finished breakfast.
Olivia from Ottawa. My partner surprised me with this for our anniversary and I\'m still not over it. The photographer captured us laughing as the dress flew up — those candid ones are my favorites. Smooth, fast, and we made it back to the ship with hours left to wander.
We\'re in our 60s and figured these things were for the young crowd — so glad we ignored that. Treated like royalty, zero rush, and the photos are now framed all over our house. Back on the Celebrity ship with time to enjoy lunch on deck.
Honeymoon stop in Cozumel and we wanted one truly unforgettable thing. This was it. The team coordinated everything around our all-aboard time so we never once looked at the clock. Caletita at sunrise is something else.
Bachelorette and friend groups
Groups are where the energy really shines. We bring several photographers — one per woman — and stagger the morning into staggered start times so the public beach never feels crowded and every subgroup gets the light to themselves.
Twelve of us for my bachelorette and I thought there was no way this would work on a port day. They split us into groups of four at 8, 9, and 10 a.m. with a photographer for each girl — it was the most fun, the most organized, and every single one of us made it back to the ship together. Bridesmaids are still talking about it.
Girls\' trip out of Toronto! Six of us, all nervous about the timing, all back on board with margin to spare. They had a photographer per person so it moved fast and felt like a private shoot for each of us. Caletita\'s rocks gave every set of photos something different.
We did this for my best friend\'s 30th and it was the easiest group activity of the whole cruise. Staggered start times meant nobody was standing around, and the team kept it dynamic and fun. Off the ship, gorgeous photos, back on the ship — no drama, no missed all-aboard.
Mother-daughter trip and we both did the Flying Dress on our Cozumel day. I was worried about my mom in the heat but the early morning slot was perfect — cool, quiet, soft light. We laughed the entire time and were back at Puerta Maya well before sailing. A core memory for both of us.
Five of us from Edmonton celebrating a 50th birthday. The fact that they brought enough photographers to shoot us almost simultaneously blew my mind — we were done in about an hour and a half total. Most unique thing any of us has ever done at a cruise port, hands down.
Our whole bridal party booked it and the staggered schedule was genius. While one group shot, the rest of us grabbed coffee in town and walked over. Everyone got their turn, everyone looked stunning, and we strolled back to the ship together with plenty of time. Five stars isn\'t enough.
What they all said about the timing
Read enough of these and a pattern jumps out: nobody missed their ship, and almost everyone was surprised by how much margin they had. That is by design. We schedule cruise-day sessions early in your port window, keep the beach close to the southern terminals, and build the whole morning backwards from your all-aboard time. The session runs 60 to 90 minutes; a typical Cozumel stop is six to eight hours. The math always works — and the women above are the proof.
The place that makes the photos
Almost every story mentions Playa Caletita, and there is a reason we shoot there. It is the best beach on the island for a Flying Dress session: alongside the sand and turquoise water there is a stretch of rock that gives the images real composition and depth. In the soft 8 a.m. light, with the public beach still quiet, it is hard to take a bad photo. If you want the deeper logistics — piers, taxis, timing — our companion guide, Flying Dress Photoshoot on Your Cozumel Cruise Day, walks through all of it.
