How to Book a Cozumel Flying Dress Photoshoot Before Your Cruise

Almost everyone we photograph in Cozumel arrives on a cruise ship that morning, which means the smartest thing you can do is lock in your Flying Dress session before you sail. Cruise-day slots are limited and they fill quickly, especially in high season. The good news is that booking is simple — a short conversation over WhatsApp or email, a few details about your ship, and a small deposit are all it takes. Here is the whole process, step by step, so you know exactly what to expect from your first message to the morning of your shoot.

Why you should book before you sail

A Flying Dress photoshoot is something genuinely different to do in the Mexican Caribbean — few travelers do one in a given year, which is exactly what makes it feel exclusive rather than just another snorkel tour or beach excursion. That rarity comes with one catch: cruise-day availability is finite. Cozumel sees several ships a day during the busy months, and our morning slots go first. Booking before you leave home means your time is guaranteed, your dress color is reserved, and there is nothing to scramble for once you are in port. As the original creators of the Flying Dress experience in the Riviera Maya, we plan every cruise-day session carefully — and that planning starts before you sail.

Step 1 — Reach out by WhatsApp or email

Everything begins with a message. Send us a WhatsApp or an email and tell us you would like a Flying Dress photoshoot in Cozumel on your cruise day. There is no form to wrestle with and no deposit required just to ask questions — this first contact is simply where we start the conversation and answer anything you are wondering about. WhatsApp tends to be the fastest way to go back and forth, but either channel works.

Step 2 — We check your cruise date and arrival time

Next, we look at the day your ship calls in Cozumel and the details of your stop: your arrival time in port and your all-aboard time. This is the single most important piece of the plan, because your whole session is built backwards from when you need to be back on the ship. The session itself runs about 60 to 90 minutes and fits comfortably inside a typical six-to-eight-hour port call, so once we know your schedule we can place your shoot in the calmest, most flattering part of the morning.

Step 3 — Tell us your group size and dress color

Then we confirm two things: how many people are joining the session, and which dress color you would like. The Flying Dress is included in every package and comes in sizes XS to XXXL, so there is nothing to buy or carry off the ship — you only choose the color that suits the look you are picturing. If you are coming as a group, this is also where we note everyone who will be photographed, because group sessions are organized a little differently (more on that below).

Step 4 — We organize your entire reservation

With your schedule, group size and color settled, we put the whole reservation together for you. That includes the meeting point and the exact time to be there, coordinated around your ship so you are never rushed. A quick, important note on how we work: we do not transport our clients. We do not pick you up, drive you, or take you back to the terminal — instead we give you clear directions to the meeting point, and you arrive on your own by foot or taxi and head back the same way. What we coordinate is the timing, so your session lines up perfectly with your port window.

For groups, we stagger the session into smaller waves rather than putting everyone on the beach at once. A party of twelve, for example, might be split into three sub-groups of four shooting at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. We bring several photographers — often one per person — so each wave is fast, dynamic and personal, and the next group steps in as the previous one wraps. Because the beach is public, with no restrooms or seating, this staggered rhythm keeps everyone comfortable and the shots uncrowded.

Step 5 — Reserve with a $30 deposit

Once every detail is set, you secure your slot with a $30 USD deposit. That small deposit is what holds your morning time, your dress color and your photographer team for the day — it takes the spot off the calendar so no one else can book it. Sessions in Cozumel start from $169 USD, and the deposit comes off your total.

Step 6 — Pay the balance in cash on the day

The remaining balance is paid in full, in cash, on the day of your session. There is nothing to settle online beyond the deposit and no surprises at the end — you simply bring the balance with you, hand it over when we meet, and enjoy the shoot. Keeping the final payment in cash on the day keeps the whole thing clean and straightforward for everyone.

What happens after your session

When we wrap, you head straight back toward your terminal with time to spare and can keep exploring Cozumel or return to the ship — entirely up to you. Your professionally edited photos arrive within 72 hours through a private online gallery, so there is nothing to wait around for in port. The early-morning light around 8:00 a.m. is the best of the day, and the public beach is still quiet, which is exactly why we love that slot for cruise guests.

Book early — especially November to April

The single best piece of advice we can give is to reserve as far ahead as you can. Cruise-day slots are the first to fill, and high season runs from November through April, when the island can see five to eight ships a day — sometimes more on peak Saturdays. Sundays are usually the calmest day in port, which often means a quieter beach for your photos. Whatever your sailing date, getting in touch before you leave home is the surest way to claim the morning you want.

Frequently Asked Questions

How far in advance should I book my Cozumel Flying Dress photoshoot?

As far ahead as you can, ideally before you even sail. Cruise-day slots are the first to fill, and high season runs from November through April when the island can see five to eight ships a day. Reaching out before you leave home is the surest way to lock in the morning you want and your preferred dress color.

How do I actually book — what is the process?

It is a short, friendly conversation. You message us on WhatsApp or email, we check your cruise date and arrival time, you tell us your group size and dress color, and we organize the whole reservation including the meeting point and timing. Then you secure it with a $30 deposit, and the remaining balance is paid in cash on the day of your session.

How much is the deposit, and how do I pay the rest?

You reserve your slot with a $30 USD deposit, which holds your time, your dress and your photographer team and comes off your total. The remaining balance is paid in full, in cash, on the day of the session when we meet. Sessions in Cozumel start from $169 USD.

What information do you need from me to plan the session?

Just a few things: your ship name, the day it calls in Cozumel, your arrival time and all-aboard time, how many people are joining, and which dress color you would like. With that, we build the schedule backwards from your all-aboard time so you are never rushed and are back on board with margin to spare.

Do you pick me up from the cruise terminal?

No — we do not transport clients. We give you clear directions to a calm, photogenic meeting point near the piers, and you arrive on your own by foot or taxi and head back the same way. What we coordinate is the timing, so your session lines up perfectly with your ship's schedule and you make it back comfortably.

How does booking work if we are a group?

Groups are split into smaller waves with staggered start times rather than everyone shooting at once. A party of twelve might become three sub-groups of four at 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. We bring several photographers, often one per person, so each wave is fast and personal. We sort all of this out for you when you book, so you just show up and enjoy it.
