The most photogenic beach in the Riviera Maya
Tulum has a look that no other stretch of the Riviera Maya quite matches. The water shifts through every shade of turquoise as the light moves; the sand is so white and fine it almost glows; and the wild beach vegetation — palms, sea grape and dune jungle — frames the shore in living green. It is the kind of scenery photographers travel for, and it sits right behind you in every frame. A Flying Dress photoshoot doesn't need much help here. The backdrop is already doing the work.
Boho-chic is in the air
Tulum invented its own aesthetic. The barefoot, bohemian, boho-chic spirit that the town is known for is exactly the energy a Flying Dress session thrives on — loose, romantic and unforced. The flowing fabric, the bare feet in warm sand, the jungle-meets-sea backdrop: it all belongs to the same dream. You are not posing against the scenery so much as becoming part of it. That harmony between the dress and the place is what makes a Tulum session feel less like a photoshoot and more like a moment you stepped into.
Turquoise water and talcum-white sand
The two ingredients every Flying Dress photo wants are colour and light, and Tulum has both in abundance. The Caribbean here is impossibly clear and saturated — a turquoise so vivid it reads as unreal on camera. The sand reflects that light back upward, softening shadows and wrapping you in a glow that flatters every frame. Whether your dress is white, red, magenta or emerald, the contrast against that water and sand is what makes the colours sing.
Wild beach jungle as your backdrop
What truly sets Tulum apart is the jungle that meets the sea. Where most beaches give you sand and water, Tulum adds a third layer — the lush, untamed greenery that hugs the coastline. We can pose you with the open Caribbean behind you, or turn into the palms and sea grape for a more intimate, bohemian feel. That range of backdrops in a single location means a Tulum gallery has texture and variety you simply can't get on a flat, open beach.
Early morning is pure magic in Tulum
If there is one secret to a perfect Tulum session, it is the early-morning light. We recommend starting around 8 a.m.: the sea is calm and glassy, the beach is still quiet, and the sun sits low and soft across the water — exactly the conditions a Flying Dress photoshoot is made for. It is also when our favourite spot, Playa La Roca, looks its best: shooting from a low, looking-up angle (contrapicada) beside its dramatic rock formation makes the dress tower against the sky for the most spectacular frames of all. The golden hour before sunset is a beautiful second choice, but a soft 8 a.m. in Tulum is something special: warm light, gentle wind and no crowds. The dry season from November to April brings the most reliable, photogenic conditions of all.
Cenotes: a backdrop only Tulum can offer
Beyond the beach, Tulum hides another world. The area is dotted with cenotes — natural freshwater pools in the jungle, with clear water, dramatic stone and shafts of light filtering through the canopy. For a truly unique Flying Dress photoshoot, we can arrange a session at a nearby cenote, swapping turquoise sea for emerald jungle water and an atmosphere you won't find anywhere else in the Riviera Maya. It is the kind of backdrop that turns a beautiful gallery into an unforgettable one.
How a Tulum Flying Dress session works
Booking is simple. You reserve over WhatsApp or email with a small $30 deposit, and the balance is paid the day of your session — sessions start from $169 USD. The Flying Dress is included and provided in sizes XS to XXXL, and every session includes your dress, your photographer and a clothing assistant who manages the fabric so it catches the Tulum breeze beautifully. Friends and family are welcome at no extra cost, and your professionally edited photos arrive within 72 hours through a private online gallery. As the original creators of the Flying Dress experience in the Riviera Maya, we guide you through every pose — no experience needed.
Getting to the beach
Tulum's beach sits about 1.5 to 2 hours from Cancún airport (CUN), or roughly 20 minutes from the new Tulum airport (TQO). We welcome travellers from all over — many of our guests fly in from the United States, Canada and Europe — and most stay in Tulum itself or travel in from elsewhere in the Riviera Maya. The public beaches, including our star spot Playa La Roca, are easily reached by bus, taxi or Uber, and private resort-beach sessions are available on request for a more secluded setting. Groups, bachelorettes and families are all welcome, with group discounts available by custom quote.
A few tips for your bohemian beach shoot
Go barefoot. Tulum's soft sand is made for it, and bare feet are part of the boho-chic look. Under the dress, wear a strapless or backless swimsuit so nothing shows through the airy fabric. Come with your hair and makeup done if you'd like a polished finish, and bring a hat and sunscreen for between shots. Then simply let the wind, the water and the jungle do the rest.
