What a resort photographer actually does
A resort photographer is a local professional who shoots you where you are already staying, instead of you travelling to a studio. In practice that means an hour on the beach in front of your hotel, in the light that flatters it, with someone who knows which stretch of that beach photographs best at that hour and which one has a construction crane in the background. You do not organise anything: you tell us the hotel and the day, and we handle the rest.
The difference from a studio portrait is not equipment, it is context. Your photos end up looking like the trip you actually took — the water, the sand, the light of that specific week — rather than a backdrop that could be anywhere.
How it works: no upfront payment
This is the part the title asks about, so here it is plainly. There is no session fee and no payment before the shoot. We photograph the session, you see the gallery, and you pay only for the images you want to keep. No hidden fees, no minimum, no obligation to buy a package you have not seen.
The reason we work this way is simple: you cannot judge photos you have not seen. Charging for the session forces you to commit before you know whether you like the results. Charging for the images means we only get paid if we actually delivered something you want on your wall.
Where we meet you
We meet at a public beach access near your hotel, usually a couple of minutes from the entrance. Mexican beaches are federal property and open to everyone, so you do not need to be a guest anywhere and there is nothing to arrange with the front desk. If friends or family are staying at a different hotel along the strip, they simply meet us at the same spot.
You make your own way to the meeting point — we do not provide transport or pick-up — and it is almost always a short walk or a very short taxi ride from where you are staying.
What kinds of sessions people book
Couples and honeymoons, families, maternity, solo and lifestyle portraits, quinceañeras, weddings and symbolic ceremonies, marriage proposals, bachelorette parties, group sessions, yacht sessions, and commercial or product work. If you are travelling with a milestone — an anniversary, a first trip as a family, a proposal you have been planning for months — that is exactly what this is for.
The one exception: Flying Dress is a fixed package
Our signature Flying Dress sessions work differently, because the dress, the assistant and the styling are provided rather than just the photography. Those are fixed packages: $149 USD in Cancun for 16 edited photos, or $199 USD for 40 edited photos plus every unedited frame and an Instagram reel. Sessions in Cozumel, Isla Mujeres, Playa del Carmen and Tulum are $20 more. A $30 USD deposit holds the date and counts toward the total.

The best hour, whatever the session
We recommend starting around 8 in the morning: the light is soft and flattering, the sea is calm, and the beach is still quiet enough that nobody walks through your frame. The golden hour before sunset is the strong second choice. Midday is the one window we avoid all year — the overhead sun casts hard shadows across the face. A session runs about an hour.
When your photos arrive
Your professionally edited photos are delivered within 72 hours through a private online gallery, where you can view them, choose the ones you want and download the high-resolution files. The editing and retouching are done before you ever see the images, so what you are choosing from is the finished work, not raw frames.
