Maternity Photoshoot in the Riviera Maya

A babymoon to remember

Your last trip as two, captured along the Riviera Maya

A babymoon is that quiet escape couples take before the baby arrives — a few slow days to rest, reconnect and toast the chapter ahead. Pairing it with a maternity photoshoot along the Riviera Maya turns the getaway into something you keep forever: warm light, turquoise water and the two of you, soon to be three.

Our bilingual team is based in Cancun and covers the whole Riviera Maya, from the resort strip down through Playa del Carmen and Tulum. We meet you at a beach close to where you are staying, keep the pace gentle, and deliver your edited gallery in 72 hours so you can share the news the moment you are home.

Why a Riviera Maya babymoon

A maternity session built around your comfort

Pregnancy travel calls for a softer plan. Everything we do is designed to keep you cool, calm and unhurried while the camera does the work.

  1. Gentle, unhurried pace

Sessions run 30 to 120 minutes with plenty of breaks, water and shade. You set the rhythm; we never rush the bump.

  2. Close to your hotel

We pick a beach near where you are staying — often your own resort sand — so there is little to no travel on shoot day.

  3. Flattering, easy posing

Standing, swaying, walking the shoreline — relaxed poses that look natural and feel effortless at any stage of pregnancy.

  4. Gallery in 72 hours

Your edited photos land within three days, ready to print for the nursery or send straight to family back home.

What is a babymoon maternity shoot?

A babymoon is the trip many couples take in the second or third trimester — a calm, romantic break before life gets wonderfully busy. A babymoon maternity shoot simply folds a photo session into that escape. Instead of a studio backdrop, you get the Caribbean: bare feet in warm sand, a sheer dress catching the breeze, and a partner who knows exactly how to make you laugh. The result is a set of images that feel like the holiday itself, not a posed portrait.

Because you are already on vacation, there is no extra logistics to manage. We come to a beach near your hotel, photograph the two of you for a relaxed half hour to two hours, and you carry on with your day. If you are planning the wider trip, our guide to a honeymoon photoshoot in the Riviera Maya follows the same gentle, couple-first approach.

Where in the Riviera Maya should we do it?

The Riviera Maya is a long ribbon of coast, so the best spot is almost always the one closest to where you sleep. Less driving in the heat means a more comfortable session and more energy for the photos. Here is how the main stretches compare:

Cancun and the hotel zone. If you are staying in Cancun, you have calm hotel-zone beaches and the wide sand of Playa Delfines, with the public CANCUN letters at the El Mirador lookout for a fun, free backdrop. For a guide written specifically for this area, see our maternity and babymoon photoshoot in Cancun.

Playa del Carmen and Playacar. The downtown beaches and the quieter Playacar stretch are easy, walkable and central — ideal if you are based mid-coast and want soft sand without a long transfer.

Tulum. Further south, Playa La Roca lets us shoot from a low angle so the sky frames your silhouette dramatically, and the jungle-lined cenotes nearby offer cool, shaded water for something different. We cover the details in our Tulum maternity photoshoot guide.

And remember: every beach in Mexico is federal land with public access, so your resort’s own sand is fair game. Many of our favorite babymoon sessions never leave the property.

When in pregnancy is best to travel and shoot?

Most expecting parents find the sweet spot between about 28 and 34 weeks. By then the bump is beautifully round and unmistakable, yet you are usually still comfortable enough to walk the shoreline and stand for short stretches. Earlier than that and the bump may not read clearly on camera; much later and travel can feel tiring. As always, follow your doctor’s guidance on flying and activity — every pregnancy is different.

On the day itself, timing is everything in the tropics. We strongly recommend an 8 a.m. start: the beach is nearly empty, the light is soft and golden, and the air is still cool before the midday sun. Golden hour in the late afternoon is the warm, cinematic alternative if mornings are tough for you. Either way we avoid the harsh, hot hours in the middle of the day.

How do we stay comfortable in the heat?

Comfort is the whole point of a babymoon, so we plan the shoot around it. A few things keep the session easy:

We keep the duration flexible and build in breaks whenever you need to sit, sip water or step into the shade. We carry water and pick locations with nearby cover — a palm line, a beach club, a shaded path. We choose the coolest part of the day, start early, and we never ask you to hold a pose that feels strained. If you are feeling great we can keep going; if you need to wrap early, that is completely fine. The bump always sets the pace, not the clock.

Light, breathable fabrics help enormously, which brings us to wardrobe.

What should I wear?

Flowy, lightweight fabrics photograph best on the beach and keep you cool: think chiffon, soft cotton and jersey in solid colors. Long dresses with movement catch the sea breeze and elongate the silhouette, while a fitted band under the bust defines the bump without squeezing. Soft neutrals, creams, dusty blues and warm earth tones sit beautifully against turquoise water; partners look great in linen and relaxed neutrals that complement rather than clash. Bring a second outfit if you would like variety — a swimsuit or a draped wrap can make a lovely, intimate second look.

Babymoon maternity FAQ

Common questions about Riviera Maya maternity sessions

What is the best time of pregnancy for a babymoon photoshoot?

Most parents-to-be choose between roughly 28 and 34 weeks, when the bump is clearly round but you are usually still comfortable walking and standing. Always follow your doctor’s advice on travel and activity, since every pregnancy is different.

Where along the Riviera Maya do you shoot?

We are based in Cancun and cover the whole coast — the Cancun hotel zone, Playa del Carmen and Playacar, and Tulum, including beaches and cenotes. We usually pick a spot close to your hotel, and your own resort beach is always an option since Mexican beaches are public.

What time of day is the session?

We recommend an 8 a.m. start: the beach is quiet, the light is soft, and the air is still cool. Golden hour in the late afternoon is a warm alternative. We avoid the hot midday hours for your comfort.

How do you keep me comfortable in the heat?

We keep the pace gentle with plenty of breaks, carry water, choose shaded locations and the coolest part of the day, and never hold a pose that feels strained. The session is fully flexible — we can wrap early or keep going based on how you feel.

How much does a maternity session cost?

You can pay per photo or choose a package. Message us on WhatsApp with your dates and we will share current session rates and packages, plus suggest the best beach near your hotel.

How soon do we get the photos?

Your professionally edited gallery is delivered in 72 hours, so you can print for the nursery and share with family before you even leave the Riviera Maya.
