How we organize larger groups so everyone shines

The Flying Dress is all about that one perfect, sweeping moment when the fabric catches the wind, and that moment deserves full attention. For larger groups, we split the party into smaller sub-groups and run them in staggered time slots — typically 8:00, 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Each wave gets its own dedicated time on the sand, with several photographers working at once, one photographer per person, so everyone is being photographed individually rather than waiting in line. A wave runs about 60 minutes, and as one group finishes its hour, the next group arrives to begin. It keeps the whole celebration flowing, keeps the energy high, and makes sure every single guest gets her own beautiful set of shots without feeling rushed or lost in the background.

Playa Centro, chosen for your group

Part of the magic is where we shoot. We set up at Playa Centro, the calm stretch of sand right beside the famous Playa Norte — one of the finest beaches in the entire Caribbean, with soft white sand and shallow turquoise water that seems to glow. It is a dream for group photos, and first thing in the morning it is quiet and uncrowded, giving your group plenty of room to spread out, change looks and celebrate without a busy beach around you. The bright, open expanse and that glowing turquoise water do half the work before the first shot.

The best time of day to celebrate

For the most flattering light — and the emptiest, most peaceful beach — we start in the early morning, with the first wave at 8:00 a.m. The light is soft and warm, the dresses glow, and Playa Centro is calm and uncrowded, which matters even more with a group. From there the staggered slots roll on through the morning, each wave running about an hour, so the whole party is photographed in a relaxed, unhurried flow. If you are visiting between November and April, the dry season gives the most reliable conditions for a smooth group shoot.

Getting your group to the island

Reaching Isla Mujeres is easy and part of the fun. The Ultramar ferry runs from Cancun — from Puerto Juarez or Playa Tortugas — and the crossing takes only about twenty to thirty minutes. Many groups come over for the day from Cancun, while others stay on the island itself. Either way works beautifully for a session.
